“Zhang made the best case for the bass as a solo instrument I’ve ever heard... He plays soulfully, lyrically and with an arresting delicacy that takes one by surprise.” ∼ Tim Page, Washington Post
This young Chinese musician, who hails from a family of double bass players, is the only double bassist ever to have won an Avery Fisher Career Grant. When DaXun Zhang and Inon Barnatan teamed up at the Vancouver Chamber Music Festival two years ago, they made history. Audiences were so enraptured that they were invited to return and repeat their performances every night of the festival. We are thrilled to bring them back to Vancouver.
